While I don’t have the loveliness yet of living in a 1940’s house as this author does, I do have an amazing storage closet that’s getting a more functional make over this weekend. I’m adding in a bar to hold clothes that shouldn’t be in my day-to-day wear – coats, cocktail dresses, swing dancing outfits and the like. That said, putting this permanent bar in also requires a little bit of forethought on how to put in lighting without calling a major electrician to run wiring through the cave of a closet.
That said, this little gem of an article couldn’t have come at a better time. Enjoy!

I’ve always preferred living in pre-1940’s buildings for all their historical and architectural charm (so far, six different places and counting, ranging from 1907 through 1931). But my affinity for the old doesn’t always align with my modern day needs, most notably the absence of overhead lighting inside closets.
