This movie stands to be one of the best of all time. Girl and guy meet, are friends, but men and women can’t be friends, and after nearly a decade of back and forth, find love. She’s fragile and strong and structured, he’s your laid back typical guy’s guy.
Sometimes it’s harder to see what’s right in front of us. Falling in love is scary business sometimes. Nobody wants to throw themselves out into the abyss of vulnerability – but as this movie shows, sometimes we.just.have.to.
While I shift favorite things from time to time – favorite snack food or perhaps book, there has been one consistent movie quote that tops my list. Ever since I saw this movie, it’s become what I hope to find (and have reciprocated) one day. (Man, Thursday has me all sappy.)
I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
